Self-Portrait
Self-Portrait
This piece was inspired by a video tutorial that we watched in class that taught us all how to do a continuous line contour drawing of a face. I chose to make my self-portrait a continuous line contour because I thought it was simple yet beautiful.
Art Experience Reflection
I can document and reflect upon the mini-lessons and art production experiences I completed this semester in ITE 326, Visual Arts, Elementary.
I can create a title for this art experience: Self-Portrait
I can describe the instructional strategies used as a motivation for creating my own work of art:
This project is motivated by student self-centeredness because it is an art experience all about you.
I can cite a HCPS III in the Visual Arts and the Benchmark I feel this lesson meets:
HCPS III Benchmark FA.DP.2.2: Apply techniques, processes, and media to achieve a specific visual effect or intended meaning in an original work of art (e.g., to create the illusion of depth or to portray three dimensional space on a two dimensional surface)
HCPS III Benchmark FA.1.1.5: Use familiar subjects and experiences to create original works of art
I can list the materials I used:
White construction paper, pencil, sharpie, black oil pastel
I can reflect on my personal involvement in the creative process during this art experience, and how I would inspire my students to feel positive about this experience:
I remember liking the freedom to create and
I can modify this experience to provide art instruction for different grade levels. List 2-3 ways:
1. Younger students can look at models of self-portraits that are a little less realistic than ones that may be appropriate or doable for older students.
2. Older students can stop and think about what they want to look like when they grow up, so this self-portrait can be a good way to get deeper insight into how the teacher's chean.
I can list 2-3 different ways to integrate other subject matter into this lesson:
1. History: After a study on an author or famous figure, students could make a portrait that both looks like the figure and gives insight into what they've learned about the figure's personality and character.
2. Character/morals education: Students could think of different qualities they want to show (kindness, honesty, etc.) and create their self-portrait that shows those qualities.
I can list 2-3 teaching skills that I can use as a teacher from this lesson:
1.Assigning homework that is for the lesson: We were instructed to bring a picture of ourself to class so that we wouldn't have to spend time deciding on one when we could be creating.
2.Excellent modeling for art techniques: I loved the youtube videos that we watched which demonstrated skills we could use in drawing our self-portrait. I thought it was helpful and I liked that we stopped and practiced throughout the video.
I can attach a photograph of my completed artwork: √ Yes No
